PARTS OF WINDOWS 7 DESKTOP

 

START MENU

     list of shortcuts to start your programs

 

TASKBAR

     it is seen across the bottom of the screen

     main job is to show what applications are currently running.

 

DESKTOP

     large area that is the upper part of the screen

     main purpose is to hold shortcut icons that will help you work efficiently

 

ICONS

     DOCUMENT ICONS - files can actually be stored as part of the Desktop

     SHORTCUT ICON - file that runs a program

                                             - it has a  small arrow at the bottom left of the icon

     DESKTOP ICON - lead you to important parts of the computer

 

NOTIFICATION AREA

     far right of the Taskbar

     used to show icons for programs that are awake and hanging around in the background  i. e. clock, anti-virus, and scheduling programs

     it tells that a program is ready to do its thing  or there is something for you to do

 

OPEN APPLICATION

     each open application will have an button on the Taskbar

     this is to show what application is being used

 

QUICKLAUNCH TOOLBAR

     next to the Start Menu button

      holds shortcuts to your frequently used programs

 

START BUTTON

     allows users to access their computer programs or configure Microsoft Windows easily
