WHOLE NOTES:Whole notes are the following examples:
  • White key to white key (with a black key in the middle of it)
  • Black key to black key 
  • White key to white key (with no black key in the middle of it) and adding another half step
HALF NOTES:Half notes are the following examples:
  • Black key to white key
  • White key to black key
  • White key to white key (with no black key in the middle of it)


KEEP IN MIND:SHARPS AND FLATS ADD 1/2 TO THE NOTESO WHEN YOU STEP TO A SHARP OR A FLAT IT IS A HALF NOTEBUT IF YOU STEP ON A HALF NOTE THEN A SHARP OR A FLAT = 1/2 + 1/2 = 1 WHOLE 

EXAMPLES:
E - F = 1/2
D - E = 1/2
#C - D = 1
E - #F = 1 (E to F is a half, plus another half = 1)
